Things Every Kindergartener Should Know


🗣️ Social & Emotional Skills

  • Take turns and share with others

  • Follow simple directions

  • Express feelings with words

  • Sit quietly and listen for short periods

  • Ask for help when needed


🧠 Thinking & Learning Skills

  • Recognize basic shapes and colors

  • Identify some letters and sounds

  • Count to 10 or higher

  • Recognize their own name in print

  • Sort objects by size, shape, or color


✍️ Fine Motor Skills

  • Hold a pencil or crayon properly

  • Use scissors to cut simple shapes

  • Trace lines and basic shapes

  • Draw a person with a head, body, arms, and legs


🧼 Self-Care Skills

  • Use the bathroom independently

  • Wash hands properly

  • Put on coat, shoes, and backpack

  • Clean up after themselves
